Shaft height
The shaft is the part of the boot above the heel and ankle. Makers measure it in different ways, so read the product details.
Ankle, mid, and tall
- Ankle boots end at or just above the ankle.
- Mid-calf boots end partway up the calf.
- Knee high boots reach near the knee. Check the calf width as well as the foot size.
Heels
- Flat or low heels sit close to the ground.
- Block heels are wide and square.
- Stacked heels are built up from layers.
